I will be going to South Africa in February for a couple of weeks and am debating whether or not to include a jaunt to Victoria Falls from Johannesburg.
I would expect the Falls to be spectacular, but how about worries over malaria, dengue, political instability in Zimbabwe, crime? Am I being too cautious in wondering?

Do it, a lot of effort is made to keep tourists safe. You can visit from Zimbabwe or Zambia depending on the experience you are looking for.

Malaria is a reality in that part of the world. Talk with your doctor about prophylaxis. I would not personally worry about Dengue, you are going to want to protect yourself from mosquitos in general anyway.
