They believe the children will bring bad luck to the family, community, or tribe. I found this video.

I don't know which was worse. What happened to that boy in Nigeria or what's happening to babies in Ethiopia.

I think the change will come with more scientific thinking being introduced into these cultures. Even Europeans had harmful beliefs on things like this. That's when they were burning women who they thought were witches etc. As Europeans became more scientific in their thinking those types of beliefs were reduced in their cultures.

Witchcraft is simply manipulating a person into doing what you desire. That means America has a lot of people that practice witchcraft and all it law or society norms.

I don't think that 2 year old boy was manipulating anyone to do what he desired.

Primitive superstition and ignorance, sadly. Same reason that majestic lions were poisoned and their heads and paws cut off to be used in black magic "healing". Or endangered rhinos killed just for their highly sought after horns, to be used in a potion which actually has no known health benefits. Or at least no more than eating our own fingernails.

The witchcraft are the lies.

For example, you tell that a wooden idol is some diety. It's enhancement. It's a lie. The women do these often. Stay away.

Africans are still extremely superstitious people, unfortunately.
In some ways, Africans today are like Europeans 500 years ago.

Albino children are also often considered bad luck and treated accordingly.
