I have my own unheralded black American hero. The story of George McJunkin is short but packs a wallop'

What a weird assumption/ accusation to make.

It on me, I didn't quote a statement that you made. Basically I think that you'd think that Egypt was Arab and and void of "black" natives. It isn't that serious, we're just strangers presenting info that we have.

African-Americans have no direct lineage to Egypt. The black people of Egypt are Nubians who have nothing to do with West Africans. Egypt is not their history. Personally I have a preference for my European history, so I usually focus on those bloodlines.

Interesting statement. Are you 100% certain of this for every African-American who has ever existed? It would imply that you have intimate knowledge of each African-American’s family tree going back thousands of years.

Well, the Afro-Asiatic language family covers Egypt and extends into parts of West Africa, so there is some connection between those two regions. However, it's true that most African-Americans descend from Atlantic coast populations that did not speak an Afro-Asiatic dialect.

I'm guessing that's because you're a European/Euro-descendant.

Western education mainly covers Europe and Europe-adjacent (Near East/North African coast). African-Americans, really all Americans, know very little about cultures/history outside of those regions.

Egyptians are not and were never black either. I'm mixed-race(75%African, 22% European) . I'm just stating the truth

Funny because I don't think majority of African American's don't claim Egypt or even care about Egypt.

It ebbs and flows.

As a casual observer, I have noticed this trend for decades. My high school sociology teacher lectured on it. More than a few black colleagues have proclaimed it to me. I remember Ice-T on the old Arsenio Hall show yell about Mexicans and Blacks uniting and finishing it with "We both built the pyramids!" I have also seen a few documentaries where some black academic is in front of the Pyramids detailing aspects that were clearly the work of black artisans or whatever. Or take a walk through black shopping center and you will inevitably see lots of Egyptian stuff. So it goes.

Strikes me as a self-esteem issue. Egypt is glamorous where West Africa is not.
