I hear nothing but great things about these locations. Family of four, two adults and two toddlers. Leaving out of Los Angeles in November. I hear all are pretty safe locations; Can anyone give me any advice on these countries.
Nature
Beaches
Historical monuments
safety
Food
transportation and traffic
Hotels under $100 night
Best attractions
weather
city center
My top 3 are Ghana, Rwanda and Seychelles
thanks for the advice
Ghana and Rwanda are interesting choices for a family vacation, but I imagine there are a lot of options for hotels under $100 per night. For nature, I would put Botswana, Namibia, and the Seychelles at the top of that category. Bostwana and Namibia will have beautiful rural vistas. Botswana has some of the best safaris, while Namibia has the high dunes of the Namib Desert. The beaches of the Seychelles can't be beat. Southern Africa isn't known for ancient history, but Namibia probably has the most colonial heritage sights. However, Ghana will also have some very interesting attractions related to its role in the slave trade. I would not be too concerned about safety. I would say food will be about the same everywhere, with the Seychelles, Botswana, and Namibia offering more Western and upscale fare. Your travel agency should make transportation arrangements beforehand.

I'm sure you can't go wrong with any of them.
But Seychelles would be interesting. Not much traffic, hotels are expensive, but within your budget, good weather, beaches, nature, etc.
Consider Gambia as another option. Gambians are accustomed to travelers, they had a good tourism thing going before political chaos, which I understand is now pretty well settled. Gambia is truly African, with easy access to undeveloped back country, lodges and guesthouses, as well as beaches with multi-star hotels. English spoken everywhere. Americans require visa, but it's issued on arrival'
I would 't really consider Seychelles to be an African experience.
Of the countries listed, I have only been to Botswana and I think it is a great place for a family vacation if one is interested in animals and a safari type vacation. It is considered the "jewel" of the southern part of Africa and is a safe place for visitors.
Botswana and Sechelles, both. You can enjoy the nature of Botswana, then head to the beaches of the Seychelles. Do some research regarding coral reefs in the area, if there are any. There might be good snorkeling.
I suppose interesting is in the eye of the beholder but there are slave castles and some natural sites like waterfalls, forests that people go to see.
There are the public markets, which are a real experience. You can buy Kente cloth, and similar hand-woven brocaded cloth from different parts of the country.
It all depends on what your priorities are, for travel.
