Last time I checked, a decade was 10 years. There's been a Jewish population in Algeria at least since th e 14th century. It peaked at 150k in the 20th century and now is down to a handful.

Hi,
First of all, sorry for my bad english.
I'm an Algerian citizen and i want to give you some informations about Algeria like you asked:
- Algeria is not a touristic country, (I mean no mass tourism). You will find very interesting places to visit though. The good thing is that there are no "tourists scams" when people know that you are a foreigner. No one will try to take your money (taxi driver, sellers ...) and you will be treated very fine.
- Since you have been in Saudi Arabia and Koweit, you will be in the same cultural environment, but Algeria is less conservative.
- Depending on which region of Algeria you will be, you will see that people in large cities are very openminded. For exemple, in Kabylia wich is in the east of Algiers, people behave almost like europeans.
- No worry about safety in the streets. Police is everywhere.
- I'm sure that your friend who invited you will take care of you, because in our traditions: hospitality = honor :-)
Finally, I hope you 'll find my post useful and I wish you a nice trip.

Prime Minister, Edward Seaga's appearance was very Caucasian, but supposedly he had a small amount of African ancestry.
