Because Africans are gullible and will sell their own for profit. Think back to slavery and how/where and with whom it started.

Bingo. Corruption. China is simply doing what they're allowed to do.

China has huge resource needs. Africa has lots of natural resources.

China needs weak compliant allies in the UN. African leaders are weak and will comply for the right price

For whatever reason it's a national pastime to criticize certain countries. China is doing what most countries should be doing: minding their own business and building the future.

That said, China has has their day in the sun. They will not be taking over the world like everyone thinks.

African republics are still sovereign, and have the power to control these kinds of things according to their own best interests. It's not just Africa. In Suriname, most retail trade, such as supermarkets, are Chinese owned and staffed. Everywhere, enterprise is in the hands of those with access to financial backing. Many rural southern American towns, with alll black population, have a single convenience store owned by an Indian or Arab.
Many of these Indians had settled in these countries for generations, such as in East Africa, at the time when Uganda expelled them and conficasted their properties. Kenya gave Asians and Europeans 2 years at the time of independence to take up Kenyan citizenship, fewer than 20,000 took that up. Subsequently the Asians were subject to more restrictions on their trades and employment.

India did or does not have a national policy of economic outreach in the manner that China does towards Africa, so it's not really a basis for comparison.

That's really a good point. China's reception in African countries hinges on their behavior, if they do well and relations are good, they can continue. Or they can squander their good will, like the Soviets did.

Or as the Americans did in Latin America, or...or...or.......

The U.S. gets a roaring case of national jock itch any time China is mentioned, and this thread is a great example.
