Here's some Candombe drumming from Uruguay South America. It's an African influenced style. To those who have been exposed to African drumming can you tell what it's likely African origin is?

Dose anyone know why Black-Americans never developed an African influenced drum tradition? Was it because the Spanish,Portuguese and French slave owners were more tolerant towards their slaves African culture compared to English slave owners?

Here's something on the first free Black town in the Americas. It's in Colombia South America. The people still associate themselves with being African.

Yes, it's origin are from the Kongo people from the ancient kingdom of Kongo (current DR Congo, Congo and northern Angola). Candombe means pertaining to blacks in Kikongo language. The terminology is also very similar to other Bantu term found in other Afro-diaspora culture based on Kongo influence like Candomblé or Palo Mayombe

They also traced most of their origin to the Kongo people. Here's a TEDx talks who traced back their roots
