Since Botswana is widely considered to be South Africa's calmer, more peaceful, cleaner, less-controversial and sparsely-populated northern neighbor (and most of Botswana's population is concentrated near the border just like Canada's).

Actually, I found it to be the opposite. SA is very rural and laid back within a couple hunfred km of the border, an then Gaborones is busy and hectic and loud.
