Do you know the average elevation of Ethiopia is 2000m(6561 feet) above sea level? 80 percent of the country is mountainous and because of that it is called the Water Tower of East Africa. More than 14 long rivers rise from the highlands of Ethiopia and flow to the surrounding countries Eg: Blue Nile and Tekeze flow towards Sudan and Egypt, Baro flows towards South Sudan, Omo, Gibe and so many others towards Kenya, Wabeshebele towards Somalia and Awash flows towards Djibouti. And I think it is the only one in the African continent which has 10 different ecosystem in a single country from Afro-Alpain to the extreme desert area, (Semien mountains 4643m above sea level to Danakil depression -160 below sea level).

I had to buy warm clothes there, I didn't expect Addis to be so cold.

Addis is 2400m above sea level. From October to January the mornings and evenings are a bit cold, sometimes the temperature can go down till 3 degree C. during this time. But the usual temperature of the city during day time is between 20 and 24C. Do you have a plan to visit Addis?

I've always wanted to visit Northern Ethiopia, specifically Erta Ale, Dallol, and Danakil.

A friend has a family in Addis and for a while we talked about travelling there together but she'd since had a baby and her plans changed. So it's very unlikely that I'd ever get to see that beautiful country now.
