Only the white neighborhoods of South Africa they are very guarded and safe.
I doubt if many visitors would be touring the townships. That's where most the crime takes place. one needs to have one's wits about them in many down town areas like Durban for instance. It is far more than a question of white neighbourhoods being guarded. Some are but many are not if by guarded you mean security at gates . Most houses will have own defences in security alarms and dogs.
RSA has a bit of an edge, but IMO still one of the more interesting places to visit and besides hard to go past Cape Town for stunning beauty and location.
For those that are interested in learning and or visiting the continent most people are bitten and fall in love with the breathtaking scenery and the genuine people.
Never visited an African country.
But I would like to visit S. Africa, Rwanda, Nigeria, Kenya, Angola, Ghana and Cape Verde...plus some others I can't think right now.
Same here and a good list. Personally, countries not listed such as Cameroon, Senegal, the Ivory Coast and Guinea come to mind.
I hear that Rwanda is really nice these days. I would love to take a ride around in the capital city of Kigali, just to give a feel of how smooth the roads look.
I wonder why some show up on this thread just to talk badly about Africa and black Africans. And they accuse others of doing things because they "feel" like it.
If it feels good, do it. And don't forget to brag.
