I'm not trying to make a "Racial" point. Obviously these nations have Black rulers, however I bet if Obama was a head of state in Africa -that country would do much better. Many African leaders got fat off their subjects ( Idi Amin did this literally by eating them), Obama much prefers Starbucks.
I don't know why this makes my stomach churn. Can Africans rule Africa? This is a serious thing to contemplate.
Well, they did hundreds of years ago. The great kings of and rulers of Egypt were all- African. By gosh, that is where Egypt is located. I used to get so angry and filled with poison when (especiallly in college) I read about the conquest of African nations by so many cultures of people, including Eurpoean and Spanish. It was only this year that I had to reconcile the truth of Africans having participated in the demise of their great continent. Having helped to sell their leaders, family members, and neighbors into slavery...
I do believe that Africans can rule Africa, I just think that the right leaders are perpetually locked out of the positions that can result in positive, lasting change for nations that are suffering. My family and I are going to visit Gambia (West Africa) in a few years to visit my brother and sister in law who founded a business college there.
It is an ethnic division between Taiwan and China. Not really just the ideology between both of them. Taiwanese want to be known as Taiwanese and not as Chinese. (And the Chinese in the mainland are educated that Taiwan is their renegade "brother". =_=)
Some do some don't it is a point of contention in Taiwanese politics today. The Taiwanese government still refers to itself as the Republic of China and official government statistics state 98% of the population is Han Chinese.

I don't think the OP was referring to Northern Africa, so I don't think Egypt plays a role here. There were some black Africans present in ancient Egypt, there were even a couple of black pharaohs, but that was as much of an exception as the US having black presidents. Basically ancient Egypt was a Hamitic and Semitic, i.e. white kingdom. I know many black Africans themselves like to associate themselves with Egypt, pretending it was black, but that is an illegitimate claim. And there is no need to do that as black Africa had its own kingdoms and achievements to be proud of. But I guess these have different names, like the Nok culture in modern-day Nigeria (which independently invented iron smelting), the Yoruba culture (also in modern-day Nigeria, probably succeeding Nok) in general (including a sophisticated religion), Meroe, Kush...

See? That's where the ethnic debate goes to. ^_^ A lot of people in Taiwan (esp, in the south) relate more with the island than China. While, there are other people who immigrated from China and there are others who want to take over China.
Even if the Taiwanese are the very same ethnic group as the Chinese, that is no reason why they should be one and the same country. There are so many places in the world, where that is not the case.
And vice versa, just because the Tibetans are not the same ethnic group as the Chinese, that does not mean they have to have a country of their own. Again, there are so many places in the world, where various ethnic groups form one country.
Zimbabwe set a record for decline in GDP - down 50% since the recent govt took over -that was in 2007 its much worse now - white farmers have been killed and Cholera sweeps the country.
Rwanda -massacres and genocide
Sudan - the same and mass starvation
The entire continent huge AIDs epidemic.
Nigeria Ghana an epidemic of email spammers (ok lol but they are a pain in the ass)
Now someone could point to Nazi Germany in WW2 or how Bush had the nation with the best resources and killed the economy and started the illegal war in Iraq but on the whole isn't the rest of the world more civilized with less mass killing, disease and economic failure than Africa?
Those are only a few countries in such a large continent. And you know, I went and read up on some history about Africa. Do you know what I found? Africa wasn't doing that badly before explorers started leaching off of Africa. Timbuktu was a major center of trade on the salt route. You did have kingdoms in Africa. You had Ghana, Songhai, Zimbabwe. Someone could make the argument of tribalism. Well, what about the Visigoths and the peoples who were scattered across northern Russia? You had tribalistic people all over the globe. What makes Africa different is that explorers and traders from Europe started taking advantage of it. They started trading certain goods for gold and other sought after products. Before Africa went into decline, Europe was under severe decline. The bubonic plague and war was causing no end of problems to Europe. Africa's decline came when the slave trade started. The slave slave traders started with the Berbers of North Africa. Then they started enslaving Moors. When they started taking slaves out of Sub-Saharan Africa, that lasted a long time. Europeans weren't the only ones to do this. You had people from the Middle East doing this too. Next you had the colonial rule. England, Germany, Portugal, France, and Belgium participated in the Rush for Africa. Even Italy and Spain tried for it. Have you heard of the Berlin Conference of 1885? During colonialism, gold and copper and other resources were being leached out of Africa and very little of it benefited the people in Africa, the same way coal mining companies from out of state would pull apart central Appalachia for coal mining purposes and apart from the jobs, very little of it benefited the people as wealth was being taking out and very little of it benefiting the locals. The slave trade and colonialism pretty much led to Africa's downfall.
Nueling correct- Although Egypt is on the African continent - I think of them as Middle East.
Pirate -correct I didn't list all the countries of Africa. You may also be right that once upon a time they did just fine by themselves.
I wonder how much validity all these historical arguments have. Take me literally - I really WONDER about this. Does a young African killing someone from a rival tribe, actually think about colonialism - is that a motivating force? OF course what can be said about some Americans ranting about immigrants when smoking and obesity hurt our economy way more than immigrants do (if at all -just depends on the study).
Are massive amounts of African internet scammers - thinking "We will get them back for slavery" or are they looking for a quick buck without the fear of their government prosecuting them... or ... or.. are they really trying to give me $10,000,000 and its my racist mentality that thinks it must be a scam? lol

Having just one is fine if the particular groups get along. The problem is in many cases they don't and kill each other over it. In this case unless one group is completely dominated or you have a strong enough dictator to stop the fighting, the country will never be stable until both groups can go their own way.
The Boers technically are Africans as they are born in Africa. I believe they could rule over Africa just fine. They did a fine job when they were calling the shots in South Africa.
The Rhodesians technically are Africans and they did a fine job when they were calling the shots in Rhodesia.

yes, but Obama is not 100% black. He's just as much white as he is black where the rulers of the lands you mentioned are 100% black. So bringing up Obama doesn't really bring any merit to your point, in that regard.

The real problem is Africa's "leaders" are more likely to help their friends and family, be corrupt, etc. than the leaders of other countries.
