I am looking for rental in Northwest Akron but I am not familiar with the area. Could someone please give some advise? Are there certain spots that I should avoid? I see some rental (duplex) on N Hawkins, close to Sand Run Park. Is that a safe area? Thank you !

there is a small area around zahn dr that has become sec 8 housing and it has become a little ruff,but for the most part it is a great area

It's kind of a mix elsewhere - the streets north of the library aren't my favorite mainly due to the rentals in there (i.e. Liberty) but it's ok. For the most part that area of town is reasonable although that section is fairly rental heavy.
Edit - actually I reread the post and the section that you're talking about is just on the backside of the Zahn/Dominion area so I'm ehhh on that. Cool next to park of course but I'm not sure how much spillover effect you'd get. I do know the convenience store on Hawkins there is unusually hood
