Default Looking for rurual housing with in an hour of Solon

ooh my spelling is horrid... I'm typin in the dark with the keyboard on the floor..LOL and I look back and wow. sorry...lol... movin's a pain. boxes everywhere...ugh. rual. blah.

Truthfully, we are a family of seven living in an extremly rual part of southwestern ohio. Low crime...low income. Husband has a job in Solon and we are looking to move soon.

I have a disabled son (cerebal palsy) So funding for the county's MRDD program is important because we lean heavily on their services.

I have three kids that used to go to Cincinati Chidlren's Hospital on a reg basis ( 1 1/2 hour drive from my house) so good medical care with in similiar drive time is necessary.

We are homeschoolers so the school district doesn't really matter.

Wanting a safe area, garden plot, room for chickens, a few goats, dog and a horse. I know... we sound...hillbilly? LOL but it's okay, I enjoy my life style, I just don't want to loose it for the "love of money".

WE ARE RENTERS FOR NOW. Looking for a place that fits around $1000/month...must have acerage.

Any suggestions on areas/cities I can look? Newspapers with advertisements I can plunder? Any suggestions on areas where there are good services for the disabled? ( He's 4) Any good churches up there? Oooh! and are there any nifty thrift stores and antique markets? Farmers markets?

ugh. Solon is so far away from everything familiar.

Hey hillbilly. (teasing...)

You should get some replies here but you should also post in the Cleveland forum. Solon is a Cleveland suburb. You will get more replies there. I am sure.

Being close to a childrens hosptial you have Rainbow Babies in Cleveland.
UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital | Cleveland, OH

Or the Akron Childrens Hospital.

I think your best bet would be Summit, Portage or Geauga County. Not sure what resources you could find to help though.

Quick Google Search found this:
Lots and Land 17890 Pioneer Rd Middlefield OH - cleveland.com (http://realestate.cleveland.com/?classification=real+estate&temp_type=detail&tp=RE _cleve&property=cleveland.com&finder=buy&ad_id=435 305242 - broken link)

I think Portage and Geauga counties would be a good place to start looking. In portage, anywhere outside of Aurora, Streetsboro, Kent, or Ravenna is rural. From what I understand, Portage county has a good MR/DD program as many people take advantage of their services as well. In Geauga, any area outside Bainbridge, South Russell, Chardon, Middlefield, or Chesterland is rural and should have what what you are looking for.
