Default window that "drops" and won't stay up

Anyone know how to repair a double-hung storm window that won't stay up? The sliders that normally "catch" on the side holes are broken off. I know you can buy sliders but can they be replaced in old windows?

older windows have weights inside the side frame of the windows and need a new rope tied to them, newer windows could be fixed by replacing the slides on the sides or my favorite and easiest fix is to cut a piece of wood and prop the window open when needed.....

I bet you can get instructions online, and then get back up from one of the men at HD or Lowes.

Default Windows that drop

There are no cords; not that kind of window. Storms that have sliders at bottom with a phlange that clicks into holes on frame to hold window up.
We are going to try to screw in new plastic phlanges using nylon spacers, see if that works.

Those aluminum storm windows can be repaired. Sometimes the spring behind the latch rusts and breaks in two, sometimes the little tip on the latch breaks. Either the spring or the latch can be replaced and the window works just like new. I have repaired many of them, but unfortunately I do not live or work anywhere near Akron/Canton and there are probably a hundred different styles of latches. I would say that you will have better luck finding help with this at a locally owned hardware or lumber yard than at one of the big box stores.

Here is a link to the supplier that we get our parts from at the yard where I work.

Good luck. I hope you have one of the "easier" brands to repair.
