Moving to Akron area
My boyfriend and I are looking to go to two schools in the area (Kent for me, Akron for him) and we'd like to find a place nearby to live. I'm not really a fan of living in Akron or Kent. Any places where we could get jobs (he'll have an Associate in Graphic Design by then and I'll just have an Associate of Arts). Also, we need a place to rent that is reasonable and some place that has a little entertainment and restaurants nearby? I like suburbs with a small town feel or a country feel. Some place where I feel safe. Is there anything like that in the area?
Thanks!

no, I'm a graduate from Kent and now live in Akron. Living on Portage Path would be GREAT for your boyfriend, not for you. The drive to Kent is a good 30min. from there. You would probably want to live somewhere in the middle. It sounds you would like stow or cuyahoga falls. I have friends that live over there. There are some nice apartments that are reasonable of the steals corners exit off route 8. A lot of younger professionals live in that area and it's very safe. There are also a few nice restaurants, stores, and a couple lil bars too. I heard there is a cute farmers market too. It would be a good location for you guys, the commute wld be pretty equal for both of you to get to school. good luck!!!

I lived at Wyndham Ridge at Steels Corners. No problems. There was an Asian chick with a BMW in the garage next to me, and a young couple with a Chevy Impala on the other side. The woman below drove a Mazda and had their son visit every week. Boring, yes, but clean and decent. No junkers in the lot, no fires in the building, no idiot college kids ... not a lot of snobs, either.

I left my apartment at Steels Corners without ever attending night classes at the U of Akron, but it would definitely have worked out rather nicely. The commute to/from Kent State would not have bad, although of course there is my beef that PEOPLE IN OHIO DRIVE TOO DAMN SLOWLY. argh.
There is actually quite a bit to do on the weekend, as NE Ohio has a lot of cities and towns. Cleveland is there, river valleys are there, and so are villages like Brecksville and Hudson.
