What can you tell me about Stow and Tallmadge?
I'm thinking of living in one of those places while I go to school in Kent. What info can you give me about them? Are there restaurants, entertainment (i.e. movie theaters, bowling, shopping, not into the clubbing or bar scene) near? Do you feel safe in these towns? Do you like living there? Why or why not? Please help me with this! Any information you can give me would be great!
Thank you

I lived in Stow for 20 years and it's a nice family town. I've always thought of Tallmadge as more urban and dumpy, but there are nice areas.. They both have plenty of stores, restaurants, etc. I would consider Stow to be very safe. Tallmadge is a further commute to Kent.

I lived in Stow for 23 years, I grew up there. I just recently moved to NC. I loved living in Stow. It is a safe, family friendly town. There are plenty of shopping opportunities and lots of restaurants. The malls are a quick drive away. I can't think of any "bad areas" of Stow, especially compared to where I live now.

I'm a Kent State grad... I would recommend Stow over Tallmadge too. Stow has lots of shopping, restaurants, etc and is growing pretty quickly. Tallmadge is much quieter -- mostly older people & families, not much in the way of shopping or restaurants! I think Stow is much more accessible via Kent's bus system than Tallmadge too -- if that's important to you.
Have fun -- Kent's a great place!

I totally agree. Both are really nice places but it sounds like you might like Stow a little better. Tallmadge is more family oriented. Good luck and GO FLASHES!!!!

All of these Kent degenerates can go on the Kent forum. Oh, wait, that's right, there isn't one.

^Your resentment towards Kent shows that you are insecure about where you went to school/where you live. Get over yourself.
OP- I would suggest living in Kent. Kent has some really nice residential areas and has some great downtown restaurants, bars/clubs, shops, hangouts, and more (depending on where you live, you could walk downtown). Also, it is close to a lot of shopping and the bus system can take you to pretty much any place you need to go. However, if you are stuck on Stow or Tallmadge, I would suggest Stow. Parts of it are pretty much in Kent and it is linked to the Kent bus system.

KSU sucks> Come on now, I'm an Akron grad and that's just silly. What next? A What Time Is It Chant? Stay on topic - he's looking for advice.
OP> I'd also second living in Kent. Downtown Kent is a great area to hang out, and riding to class is always nice to save money. If you're set on being further away, Stow's the place. I'm not going to jump all over its bandwagon like posters before me - it's not the best place to live. In fact, it's pretty generic and lacks a downtown, but it's nice and safe.

I'm an Akron grad and altho I have never been a fan of Kent, I would say that is a good fit as well.
But, if it is an actual toss up between just Stow and Tallmadge I would sooooo pick Stow over Tallmadge. Someone above mentioned that Tallmadge is urban. No no no. It's more rural than anything. Nothing to do there altho there is a good restaurant by the name of Delaney's (on the circle). Tallmadge is pretty boring, actually.
Both areas are safe but Tallmadge doesn't have too mcuh of anything. Summit Racing has it's headquarters there (if you're a car enthusiast). Actually, Summit is the only worthwhile place in Tallmadge (I could be biased because I used to work there tho).
