I need some advice on how long I can expect it to take to drive from Rootstown (which is near Akron) to the airport in Cleveland? And, what is the best route to take at 5pm??

Alternatively, if I bought a ticket out of Akron instead, how much time would it take to get from Rootstown to the Akron, CAK, airport at 5pm? And, what is the best route to take at 5pm? I cannot leave Rootstown until 5pm and there is a 6:30 flight out of Akron, but I was told that this would be an unwise flight schedule to try make (considering that a rental car also has to be returned).

I am trying to get home to DFW as quick as possible because I will have a nursing baby waiting for me... but I am afraid to book a flight that I won't be able to catch bc of unexpected traffics/delays.

Any advice would be appreciated!

Thanks

Nix the CAK idea. That's a solid half hour drive, and while the TSA line at CAK is usually not that bad, that's one of the bad times of the day for it. Combine that w/a rental car & you're looking at possibly missing your flight.

In regards to CLE, you're hitting the freeways at a poor time, so I'd suggest using the Turnpike. Go up OH44 and get on the Turnpike west to I-71, then north from there. By the time you hit I-71, you're going in reverse of rush hour traffic (if there is even much of that left at about 6pm when you'll hit it). Figure 60-75 minutes. Definitely avoid Routes OH-8 and OH-18, as you will be hitting them at bad rush hour times.
