Hi everyone!
I hope everyone can help, my family (Husband, 3 year old daughter and 2 dogs) are relocating to Ohio and need to know if the Dover, New Philadelphia, and Strasburg are good areas and/or what areas to avoid!
Originally we are from Dayton in Ohio but have lived in Jacksonville NC and now small town in PA. I would like an area with a really good school district and low crime but also things to do! Please any information is helpful we'll be in town next week but it'd be nice to know.
Thanks,
Sarah!

Don't know about schools there, but for things to do: That area is certainly very close to Ohio's main Amish, with wonderful cheese, bulk stores, restaurants, crafts, handmade furniture and festivals. Just driving the back roads around there is delightful. I like nearby Zoar Village too. Canton is not that far up the hwy.

Just curious, where did you end up moving to? I'm trying to decide between Dover and New Philadelphia. I have a 10 and 7 year old, so good schools are important. It seems that Dover rent is higher than New Philadelphia. Any thoughts? Thanks

It's been a few years since I lived there, but both Dover and New Philadelphia schools were good. If you're looking for something a little more rural, just south of Dover/New Philly, Indian valley schools in Gnadenhutten were quite good.

I grew up in that area and still have a lot of family there.

I agree with TXStrat. I have neices that attend Dover and a neice and nephew that attend Indian Valley.

I do believe Dover would be the best school option and why rent a little higher there. Dover and NP are definetly the biggest and best schools in the county.

Sugarcreek might be another good option for you. Rent cheaper and their Garaway school disrict is good and comparable size to IV.

I would stay away from Claymont schools in Urchisville/Dennison. Rent a lot cheaper but schools not very good.

Your other close options would be Strasburg (smallest public school in the county with highest tax rate) and Bolivar (Tusky Valley schools / My wife attended this school) that is okay.
