Hey everyone,

I could use some help. I am looking to move into Akron in the next few months and am having trouble getting straight answers on apartments from other resources and I was hoping someone could help me out.

I would like to move into the Highland Square/Wallhaven area of the city because it would shorten my commute to work, but it seems everything I find is contradictory. If anyone can point out some good places or provide information on any of the following that would be great.

I've been intrigued by Twin Oaks Manor, Tower 80, Highland Square Apartments, and The Woods of Fairlawn. I'm a young professional who is getting married soon and we would like to live in a fun area.

Also, anyone know much about Canal Square Apartments? Awesome looking building.

Thanks.

I can say I haven't heard great things about the Woods (formerly Village Green I think) and some of the characters running around there look sketchy. Not to say that means a whole lot, it is a large complex. It is close to your basic suburban style shopping like grocery store, Pizza Hut, Dunkin Donuts, etc

On the opposite end I've heard good things about Canal Square. My understanding is aesthetically it is a little dated but otherwise a nice place. I think it leans more white collar. Right downtown but has the block more or less to itself. I think they maintained the gym even after the Y moved.

The others I don't have much either way. From the outside Tower 80 looks the best and is closest to the best part of the strip.

I've been in Highland Square and the apartment was dated aesthetically but otherwise nothing stood out. Grad student was living there. Has mini parking deck attached. Also right on the strip.

Twin Oaks has the best seat in the house for Portage Country Club's annual 4th of July fireworks.
