Canton Area: Groceries?
Since I am going to be moving to Canton, want to know where the best place is to go for groceries. Somewhere that has the best fresh fruit- I am a BIG watermelon, strawberry, pineapple, honeydew and blueberry eater and I hate finding those stores that charge astronomical prices for **** poor fruit
For instance- the Wal Mart here always has fruit that looks awful- they charge 6.98 for 1/2 pound cut up watermelon and I can drive 1 hour and get the same amount for 1/2 the price and it is FRESH!!

Walmart?? No, No, No.....they don't specialize in groceries!! They specialize in cheap and made in China products. Walmart is for socks and coffee machines.
Ok, you're looking for a grocery store...
My personal favorite is Fisher's Foods. They are located in Canton, North Canton and Massillon. Fisher's is family owned (not some corporate giant) and I think that makes a difference when it comes to fresh meat and produce.
My next choice is Acme Fresh Markets, also family owned, their meat is ALWAYS fresh and usually their produce is, too!
And...there's alwats Giant Eagle is OK but, they are usually too busy for me and I'm not a huge fan of pre-packaged meat. Giant Eagle is good when you need cream of mushroom soup or chips and soda at 11pm (when the other 2 are closed).
Good luck and happy shopping.

I did forget one place...not exactly a grocery store but an indoor farmers market. Shaffers (sp?) on the Corner of S Main St & 619 in Green/Portage Lakes open for a few months and closes for a couple of weeks ALL year. It's not too far from Canton. either. When you move if you need directions...you can PM me.

I moved here from Colorado 3 months ago and have found that the Fisher Food Markets have the best produce for your buck. It can be a little pricey but they also have an area in the back of the produce dept. full of discounted produce (instead of throwing it out, and I respect them for that). Always check there first. Amazing what you can find!! No need to go to the outrageously overpriced "organic" stores like Raisin Rack. What a joke.
