Default rental housing in canton area?

My wife and I may be relocating to the Canton, OH area in a few months. We plan to keep our present home in VA due to the horrible R.E. market and find a rental property (one year lease) within commuting range of North Canton. We have pets and want a single-family house. Other than CraigsList, how does one get info on rentals? The realtors show only buy/sell and realtor.com comes up with zero rentals in the area. Help!!

You can call one of the local agencies in the area and ask about rentals. Many times the rental properties are not online. You can also find *maybe* online the local paper ( Canton Repository) and look at the rental properties. There are good areas in Canton and some VERY bad locations.

I am not sure how far you want to commute, but you can easily get to North Canton from the Green, Uniontown, Louisville, East Canton, Jackson, Perry, areas pretty quick too.

I would check out some of those areas too!

Hey there. I actually just moved to TX from VA but am originally from Canton, OH.

I would look in the local newspaper as stated above CantonRep.com | The Canton Repository | Canton, Stark County & Northeast Ohio News, Community Events & Classifieds

Any commute in that area is not bad at all, except maybe in the Belden Village area. Personally, having lived in several areas of the area, I would try and stick to the North Canton area..maybe like Lake Twp or Green, both of which are pretty much off of the same main streets that lead right into North Canton. Hartville would be another great option, if you like the country.

I am not sure where in VA you are, but, being from the Va Beach area, the Canton area is way, way cheaper.

If you need any more info, let me know

You might also try the Alliance Review (www.the-review.com), sometimes they have homes for rent outside of Canton. I live in Louisville now and work in Canton and the commute is about 20 minutes for me, pretty good.

I'll tell you how I found a place to rent..go to Craigslist and post a Housing Wanted ad. I've had the nicest people contact me about their homes, and it's how I found the awesome place we're moving to here in a month. The best part is that you can tell people a little bit about yourself in the ad, that way they know your situation ahead of time, (if you have pets, if you require any appliances, etc). It worked for me!
