Maybe I just don't look like a target, I don't know, but it's kind of disturbing to me that people label the Square as being unsafe and unruly. (htlong Im not necessarily saying you have - this is just things I hear over and over again from some people). Minus the whole grocery store fiasco...I think that it's a great neighborhood. And the rowdy kids you may find at the library...first of all, they are kids - secondly, you will find that anywhere - not just the Square.

I think that's the point - very few people actually have anything bad happen to them. Case in point, if Akron has 20 murders a year and 200,000 residents (not even counting people working or shopping or visiting) your chances of getting killed are 1/10th of 1%. Assume you don't do or sell drugs and your chances probably drop into the hundredths or thousandths of a percent.
Anyway, my point is given the thousands of people who pass thru the neighborhood regularly, if even a handful get robbed or have some other unfortunate thing happen, any given person's chances are very, very slim to *anything* negative happen.
So while I would prefer than nothing bad happen, its still so unlikely that it is ridiculously overblown when people talk about it being "bad".
