akron/canton forum
I see Dayton finally got a forum, when posting about Akron or surrounding areas please put Akron or Canton in the headline....maybe It will wake up our moderators to the fact that we are not a suburb of Cleveland!
but I doubt it......

Why would it wake them up to something when it's not true? Akron is just another part of the Greater Cleveland Metropolitan Area. Terminal Tower to Quaker Square is about a 30 minute ride. However, upon comparing the two downtown areas, it is quite easy to discern which of the two is the nuclear city and which is the satellite. And, Canton? C'mon...it's a cow town with a decent sized shopping mall. You're both part of the Cleveland Area whether you want to be or not.

I think an Akron/Canton forum would be a good idea.
Having grown up in the Massillon/Canton area, I never felt connected to Cleveland. (except for the TV stations)

I don't know if you drive your car 110mph or not, but for most of us, it's definitely not a 30-minute ride. On a good day, you're looking at 45 minutes. And Canton? You're talking about an hour and 10 minutes on a good day. How do you consider either of these to be suburbs of Cleveland? Both of them have been married together since I can remember. Canton-Akron Indians (boy that brings back some memories), CAK Airport, Akron-Canton News. We're talking about a metropolitan area of 1.1 - 1.2 million people. But, they don't deserve their own forum because they're within an 45-1:15 of Cleveland, Ohio? Please.

I was born and raised in Akron and it is definitely not part of Cleveland. I wondered why there was no forum for Akron.
I haven't been back in decades and miss some of the things there. As a kid, I went to the Children's zoo all the time. I can remember when they got a baby elephant. Oneill's and Polsky department stores that were directly across the street from each other. At Christmas it was a big deal to go look at the decorated windows. Like something out of the movie A Christmas Story. I heard they both are gone now. The Rolling Acres mall was a big deal when it was built. I remember getting my ears pierced there. And when I moved to California I flew out of the Akron Canton airport. So yes, Akron does deserve its own forum.

Downtown to Downtown is about 32 miles. At 60 MPH, it would take 32 minutes. If you drive like my Grandmother, it might take 45 minutes.
You seem to be missing the part about Akron being part of what is considered the Greater Cleveland Metropolitan Area. Akron is a small city. The Akron/Canton amalgam is less than 1/4 of the total GCMA population. Neither Akron or Canton even have a building over 25 stories tall. They are essentially large suburbs with Cleveland being the nuclear city in the area. Hence, the TV stations, sports teams, etc. are all Cleveland based.
I have nothing against Akron having its own forum. But, if you do that, you might as well make one for Mentor and Elyria as well.

Google Map has it at just under or just over 38 miles, not 32. Driven at 60mph continously, you're looking at 38 minutes. Given that from many areas of Akron, it's not a straight shot. I.E. stop lights on route 8 or changing from 8 to 80 to 77 or 8 to 271 to 480 to 77 and considering that some of these thoroughfares are some of the busiest in the country, you can easily add another 7 minutes, right? I'd think so. Ever driven on 271, 480, 77, or 8 when they're getting busy? You don't come down to Akron much, do you? You'd think a suburb of Cleveland would have a good way to actually get there, huh?

Akron is the 93rd largest city in the U.S. I can think of a lot smaller ones with it's own sub-forums.

Just as Cincinnati is to Dayton. And go check to see if they have a sub-forum. Oh yeah, and it's closer as well as smaller.
Thanks for participating.
