Holy crap. I wasn't saying at all that that person should live south of campus.

The dollar amount that I mentioned is what I pay a month for my studio in Highland Square.

I was saying that I wouldnt live in Northside Lofts because its too expensive and I wouldnt live near Allyn because I care too much about my car specifically.

Quite honestly I don't rank south of the campus as being all that safe relative to other neighborhoods. I don't think you're going to die but there is a reason a lot of the apartments are cheap. I've stayed smack in the middle of that neighborhood with people getting beat up, had a guy a few doors down get shot in the yard, and then all of the normal obnoxious college behavior. Sadly I think the cheapness of it attracts a lot of non-collegiate wackjobs. If it was just me alone I'd rather drop $300 on a sleeping room in HS than $400 on a studio over there... Really the only spot I know of that is significantly cheaper than HS for individual space in the UA area is east of Route 8 off of Exchange and that where you're leaving college territory and entering full blown hooker and crackhead territory.
I agree with everybody else. As far as safety goes, I'd take Highland Square in a heart beat.
