Default Akron and easy access to Cleveland middle ground

Hi all,

I know there has been several threads on various places, but let me list my situation and req. to try to narrow a place. My spouse will be doing some advanced medical training at Akron Children's Hospital. I could work from home, and I will try to do so, but since companies nowdays seem to be cutting everywhere I would like to find an area that would give me on ok commute to Cleveland, perhaps Richfield, as I was told this is the tech corner. I have no idea, I have never been to the area, I have mainly lived in places such as Atlanta, FL, and silicon valley. My spouse and her medical training has taken me to what I called, " the middle of nowhere"
I was given a list of some places, but I think Richfield/Hudson may be the fartheast that seem reasonable. I have never been to the area, and my spouse idea it looks ok, its some far away country setting.
I have an infant, and a small dog, its my spouse. I have tried to get rid of it, but I am not winning that battle. I am looking for a rental, as we will only be there for my spouse to complete training. I would like easy access to grocery stores, stores such as target/walmart, and the likes. I would like a safe area with sidewalks. If I have to be on cookie cutter type, I would prefer a townhome, as if I am going to be on top of someone, I might as well get a townhome.
Ideal 3 bedroom/2 bath, would prefer 4 bed 2 bath, as 1 room would be a home office. I have no idea what rents are in the area. I would prefer a house, but if it need be I will do an apt.House/townhome/apt that is my order of preference.
If anyone has an contact info to help on a searc, please pm me that. I need to schedule some trips in the area, and would like to maximize my time.

I have taken a look at various sites, but not knowing the area, not sure what makes sense. I would like to avoid to be in the middle of student living. I can do where facultly, med school live.
Areas mentioned as potentials area:
Breclesville
Broadway Heights
Sagamore HIlls
Richfield
Hudson
I looked at a google map, and the closes to the hospital would be Richfield/Hudson.
Are there any areas to look besides these?

thanks in advance

Those are all wonderful, spacious, white-collar, middle class suburbs. Beautiful, safe, good schools, great amenities, fantastic day cares. Out of the suburbs you listed, Brecksville or Broadveiw Hts. would be my first choice. Both are somewhat expensive, although Broadiview Hts. does have some more affordable apartments, condos, and townhomes. The Brecksville/Broadview Hts. area is a very resonable commute to either Akron or Cleveland. If you are planning on sending your child to daycare, I would suggest The Goddard school in Broadview Hts. It's expensive, but well worth the money if you can work it into your budget.

I dont understand the commute to Cleveland if you work at home? If you want access to Akron and all of the big box stores,I would look to the area around Montrose (I-77 & Rt .18) this could be Fairlawn,Copley,Bath. easy trip to Akron, and only about 5 to 10 miles south of Brecksville/Richfield.
I take it your wife will be driving to Akron daily and you to Cleveland only once in a while....but I may be wrong!

extreme asthma attacks, but if you never had those, i do not expect you to understand. Dog ownership is ok, when you own you r home, but when you are renting, it will limit you.

You are right on target. Its mainly plan a, b and c. In today's environment, you need to have all your options. I am not sure how the market is in Cleveland. I could always as an alternative head back to school and head to much closer to Akron where the drive to the hospital would be much closer.
I have never been to Akron, and I taking things from pictures, but the info provided are good points to take, when I take a visit to explore areas of potential places to live.

You are right. I am sorry, I apologize, I did not realize your situation. I hope your asthma is under control.
