Alliance apartments
I will be working in Alliance starting at the end of August and am looking for a pet-friendly apartment there. Since it is a college town, I also need to be away from the party scene. Anyone know of a nice, quiet, pet-friendly apartment or duplex there? Cost is not an issue as I get paid housing with my job, but peace and quiet is vital.

I lived in Alliance for a few months, and I saw very little to imply that it is a college town. There are not a lot of college age kids in the town itself, it's mostly just near the university. I lived in Liberty Heights Apartments (I think was their name) for awhile, and they are really nice. They were really quiet, affordable, and I know at least some of the buildings are pet friendly. I can't remember the name of the street or anything, but the apartment was kind of back behind McDonalds in a nice little residential neighborhood. It was definitely a quiet, nice place to live, and the management for the apartments does a really good job (or they did when I was there about 3 years ago, I suppose it may have changed since then). Good luck!

When I read college town, I had to remember that Mount Union was actually in Alliance. It feels more like a hick, white-bred town that happens to have a college inside of it.

Lol...yeah, that's about what I thought when I moved there. It's a sad, dirty, depressing little town. Best wishes to you there though!!!

Potters Creek are the nicest apartments (and newest) in the town, so be happy your company placed you there!
Alliance really is a sad place to be any more though, I grew up and went to school outside of town, and while I have a lot of great memories there, it has really just continued to circle the drain the past 15 years as it progressively gets worse. The city focused exclusively on the development on the west-side of the city starting back in the early 90s, and let the rest of it (outside of area near the college and the building of the new hospital right next to that) go to crap. The north side is an atrocity and so-called 'downtown' is about the most depressing so-called 'downtown' I've ever seen - there has to be more vacant space than actual occupied space in that area of town. They continue to lose population as well despite annexing a decent amount of land the past decade or so.
Alliance need a couple things to happen to become somewhat respectable again, one, the completion of the US-62 expressway all the way to Rt. 11 near Canfield - think it would be a definite help to the northside of town. And two, just like the nearby Mahoning Valley and much of NE Ohio, they need to continue to move away from the industrial economy mindset that has dominated the thinking of leadership there for years and is outdated and hurting the local economies dearly.

I will be working at the new hospital, actually, until the end of November. It is sad to hear that the city has become so sad. Luckily, I will work 4-10 hour days and go home to Toledo on the weekends. Thanks for the info!

I'm not sure who told you it was a "college town". It has a private liberal arts college that has just over 2,000 students. I went to high school in Alliance and lived there most of my life before college. Thank God our house was out in the country and barley considered part of Alliance.
It's a tiny town with a HUGE drug problem. It has one of the highest crime rates in the entire country per capita. No joke, look it up. What you may see on West State St is not representative of most of Alliance.
There is no party scene, trust me on that. Unless you live in a dorm on campus, you won't have to worry about that. If you want a nice place, I'd look in Canton and commute. If you want to buy anything other than groceries you'll be going to Canton anyway.
