Nice townhomes or apartments around Stow, Ohio?
Myfiance and I are moving to the Kent area in August of this year because I will be beginning my PhD there and teaching at the university. We don't want to live directly in Kent on campus, but on our one and only trip to the area, we were really impressed with Stow. Can anyone tell me if they recommend any particular apt. or townhome complexes that we can look into during our next visit? I have looked at some of the apartment ratings online for certain places and they are terrible. Those that don't have theft and trashy people seem very pricy (I know you get what you pay for). We are looking for something with one bedroom (or two) and my fiance prefers a garage. All I prefer is a washer and dryer in the unit and a dishwasher. I would LOVE any advice about areas, the area in general, or info about apartments. I really liked Heron Spring Apartments in Stow. Any into about those in addition to what their webpage and other sites offer would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.

Ok, here is some of the information that I posted for someone else in the Cleveland section of the forums:
In Stow
1. Heron Springs is right off Route 8 N/S in Stow (Graham Rd. exit):

2. Wyndham Ridge is also in Stow off Rt. 8 N/S (Steels Corners Rd. exit)

3. Bridgewater Park, Stow, off Rt. 8 N/S as well (Steels Corners Rd. exit):

In Cuyahoga Falls
Forest Ridge Luxury Apartments in Cuyahoga Falls is also of Rt.8 N/S:

OK, well, these are probably the best of the best right in the immediate area. There are probably more but these are what are off the top of my head at the moment. Bridgewater Park in Stow is probably the newest complex in the area. The rest are all atleast 5 years old but they are super nice-esp Heron Springs. I used to know someone who lived there and if I'm not mistaken he had his own garage right below his apt. As for as the Cuyahoga Falls one...I listed that because its pretty nice and right near Route 8 - only bout 10 minutes from Stow maybe. Hopefully all of the links will work for you. I am filled with apartment knowledge, etc. about this area, so if you need more info, just let me know.....

Mannington place is probably where you want to be. I lived there for two years and I loved it! It has a washer-dryer included and your own garage. Stow has almost zero crime and everything is so close- it is a very family -oriented place and perfect if you are looking to buy a home. Hudson is also very very nice-but extremely expensive for Ohio and has an upper-middle class/wealthy population with few condos or rentals.

This is going to sound random, but I actually live in a really nice townhome on the Kent-Stow border, and I will be moving out in August to relocate to PA for work. I have lived there for the past two years while I finished my master's, and it was perfect. It's in a nice, residential area (not an apartment complex), it's very quiet and safe, only about a 5 minute drive to campus, pet-friendly, and the landlord is FANTASTIC. He takes care of everything immediately. It's a 2 bedroom, 1.5 bath townhome with a patio, balcony, dishwasher, and W/D hookups. If you'd like more info (or the contact info for the landlord) let me know and I'll be happy to pass that along to you.

Close shouldn't require driving.
And yes, quiet can = boring.
Stow is def quiet.
I guess Im not a fan of quiet places, thats all. I cant do cookie cutter and family oriented. Plus, I don't have to worry since I don't have crumb grabbers I have to watch.
So, yes, to me, Stow is a plain, old, vanilla, boring place. I'll give it safe though.

Well, when you are from Wayne County, close does include driving, and since you can be from Stow to most places in 10-20 minutes, I'd say it's pretty close to everything. And while quiet can equal boring, since Kent is...oh...a 2 mile bike ride away, I'd say that if you have any motivation whatsoever you can find something to do very near to Stow. The neighborhood I lived in was not a cookie-cutter neighborhood at all, and while there were lots of families around, it was a nice mix of families and college students who all lived in the same neighborhood. I also am fortunate enough to not have children. I chose Stow b/c I didn't have to worry about a bunch of morons lighting couches on fire in my front yard (like in downtown Kent).
