Default police layoffs

Akron is getting worse every month and the mayor is laying off 90 policeman and only 38 fireman? didn't the police vote in favor for the recall?????
why not cut his deputy mayors from fourteen or more to one or two?
you had your chance and didn't vote!

I thought it was suspect that the majority of the layoffs came from the PD. It doesn't make sense IMO, particularly in that they focused on officers and not support personnel.

On the flip side if it makes you feel any better (probably not) major police layoffs have been happening all over the country, so it's not just in Akron. Philadelphia, Cincinnati, CT and VA state police, even cops at the airport in Detroit. If you google "police layoff" you'll find scores of articles on layoffs from large and small towns across the country.

You are more than entitled to your opinion, but stopping putting false statements out there. NYC has 7 deputy mayors.
NYC.gov

As far as the recall, that would not have had any affect on the budget deficit, except that there would be $175,000 more in the pot to save some jobs. Thanks for wasting the money for what 25% felt was necessary.

excuse meeeee! NYC has 7 deputy mayors and Akron had 17?????? you dont see anything wrong here....175,000 for a recall and how much for the dons purchase of Young's rest.? (750,000 WITH NO HISTORIC SIGNIFICANCE) come on yanni this is dons city not yours or mine, don does what don wants to do and if you buck him....like the police did well keep your head in the ground and keep telling everyone what a good job he is doing.
with all of his traveling expenses he spends and the gnomes who he takes with him is by far BY FAR! WAY MORE THAN THE DROP IN THE BUCKET OF A RECALL.
if he would at least bring back a couple of jobs.......you wanted him you got him just dont walk unarmed in the daylight in Akron its already started....... go Donnie!

Young's has a great deal of historical significance. So much so that the Summit County Historical Society is involved. I don't know where you get your info from. Notice, nowhere in there did I say the city made a good decision on the matter.
Why has he never had any charges brought against him for misspending and his so called travel expenses?
I think he has done a lot of good for the city in the past. Look back ten years. I don't think a lot of people could have made the city in what it is, and will be. That being said I think he will have a very hard time getting re-elected, and his tenure should be up. A recall was not the right way to go about it though, and ended up being a huge waste of money.
