I hate to give away my secrets, but I skip Western Reserve by sneaking down New Buffalo Rd. to either 165 or Calla Rd. They will both take you to 46, or 62 without the traffic.

I live on the northern edge of Boardman, so I have to fight my way through town no matter what.

I tried Calla once and it wasn't too bad, but a few too many stop signs, but to get down there, like you said you gotta take New Buffalo, which from where I live still requires me to use Western Reserve for a short bit.

While your suggestions are definitely shorter distance-wise, time-wise, no. Check YahooMaps or any of the others and my route is one of the quickest ways to go, even though it is longer.
