Going to School at Stark State
I am starting an online course at Stark State in January but am considering a move up there next fall to complete my program at the school. I'm interested in getting rental apt. info and some of the best areas for any restaurant employment as a server/bartender. P.S. I am almost 50 years old and re-inventing myself...employment is important so how easy is it to find a job in the restaurants in the N Canton area. I read that Belden Village is a good area?

Belden Village is the spot. Stark State is down there and there is a huge concentration of restaurants.
Can't comment on how easy it is to get a job tho. Sorry.

Unless you want a 30-minute commute or so to school, no you would not be better off living in Akron. The greatest concentration of restaurants in Akron is on the NW side/Montrose-Fairlawn. I think there would be just as much of an opportunity to find something in Belden Village as Fairlawn as there are a lot of chain/local restaurants in the area. So it would make more sense to just live near school. I would imagine w/a lot of experience you could find something even in the down economy as a waitress, however, it's probably going to be tougher than it was a few years ago.

This might be a start:
CANTON Restaurants | CANTON Restaurant Guide | CANTON, Ohio
The main roads w/restaurants are Dressler, Whipple, Everhard, Belden Village St. & Portage - the most you'll find though are going to be on Dressler (Olive Garden, Longhorn, Carraba's, Don Pablo's, Applebee's just to name a few).

Getting a job in the Canton area will be difficult. Several restaurants have gone out or are going to because of the very poor economy. However, if you must move, Beldon Village is the place to be if you want to work in the food industry. Avoid downtown Canton. I would look in the Jackson twnshp area.
