Default Akron Art Museum Grand Reopening

In July, the AAM will reopen after two years under construction. The new building's exciting architecture and expanded galleries will be something to see. If you're looking for ideas for things to do in Akron, this will be great.

i drove by the art institute while visiting last fall, and i don't really understand why it thrust out over market st over the top of the old building....kind of weird, but i will check it out while there, the last time i was at the Akron art institute it was in the old post office across the street!

Default Aam

They wanted the wing roof of the building to symbolize the old and the new sheltered under one soaring wing. I was in there yesterday and it's really beautiful inside. They still have the old pony express mosaic from the old post office in the 1899 building.

Since it is a contemporary art museum, it makes sense that the expansion would have innovative architecture.
