Sorry, but we have no Sun City in Alabama. Closest you might get is a combined independent living-assisted living complex, but that's about it.

Southlander is right.. I haven't seen or heard of any 55 plus areas. Nothing against manufactured homes but if you live up here it seems tornadoes are attracted to them. Not that they don't hit other types of housing but I would rather take my chances in a solid built home.
Is there a reason you are looking for the 55 plus community? I can ask I am older than 55.. LOL

We like the Palm Harbor homes and the parks they have in Florida, just don't want to be in Florida, i guess it doesn't have to be 55 + community, our other choice is a brick bungalow home...... any info on the bungalow idea?how often do you get a tornadoes in the Florence area? Thanks for your input!

There are some brick attached houses (bungalow type) newer homes here in Arab. They have smaller yards with a garage and are very nice. You might like something built like that. I am sure you can find the same type in other cities as well.
I will have to let others tell you about Florence and the tornadoes since I do not know the stats on FLorence.

In my searches, Mobile probably has more 55+ communities than anywhere else in Alabama. Birmingham is not very good.
