It seems that my last post was "objectionable" to some. Lately I have been having problems with the local "government" here in Gordo. Since this is a "small" town, blink and you miss it, the people who run it are usually the ones who set the laws for everyone else. I submitted detailed drawings on a porch addition I was making and the materials list as well. Lately though, they are saying that they did NOT know it was an enclosed structure and there were questions about it falling into SBCCI standards. That's Southern Building Code, for those who do not know. However when the inspector came out, he said there were some complaints about the addition and he wanted to know if anyone had spoke to me. Told me the building looked good and that I was doing a good job on it. Upon calling City Hall, I was given three different stories. Starting off, they said it was unprofessional, they didn't know it was enclosed =remember the detailed drawings I submitted, apparently someone didn't do their job the day they issued the permit= and said it didn't look good. Now, unprofessional, no, it's not. I am doing this alone and some things are taking me longer than others, but they are getting done. Doesn't look good? Well, tell me that AFTER its finished and then I might worry lol. As for the other, I repeated myself twice so thats enough. I am curious though... am I the only lucky one or are others in smaller backwater towns getting the same treatment. I'd hate to think I was the only lucky one in Bama.
