Default mt. biking

Any one know about mt. biking trails in northern AL? Rails to trails are good and also typically national forests have biking trails. Help. Thanks.

At least three locations in the Huntsville area. National Forests and State Parks or Wildlife Management areas galore within 1 to 2 hours drive all across North Alabama, but not sure how friendly they are to mountain bikes. Do a search for "mountain bike" and "Huntsville AL" on the G site and you should get some good info.

There is also a very active club, Spring City Cycling Club, in Huntsville. Decatur has urban bike trails.

Default MT. Biking in NA

There are several places that you can bike. One of the most popular is Monte Sano. My husband also bikes on Wheeler Wild Life Refuge. The city of Huntsville is also surrounded by wonderful greenways (not mt. biking but still nice). There are a few rails to trails nearby but they aren't very lengthy. Local bike shops here can give you many more options. Huntsville also has a chapter of SORBA.

Default There's a Rails to Trails in Elkmont...

...per Huntsville Times article 3-7-07. It's 11 miles long. Goes North from Piney Chapel Rd and Alabama 127, through Elkmont and Veto into Tennessee. I haven't moved from San Diego to Huntsville yet, so I don't know how good it is, but the article was quite positive.
