Default Visiting Northern Alabama

We would like to plan a trip to Northern Alabama/Muscle Shoals area to look at the area regarding possibly relocation for retirement. What is the early fall weather like there?

Thanks!

Early fall is typically beautiful. It is usually dry, in the 70s to low 80s. Low 90s are possible, but not likely.

Thanks for your reply!

What are your summers usually like? And do you get severe weather there such as tornadoes?

September is one of the hottest months! October is not so bad. Cooler in the evening, not quite as hot in the daytime, humidity is lower. Usually. Gorgeous blue skies!

Summers are hot and sometimes muggy, but not as hot as central AL. HSV does get a tornado once in a while, but has not been hit with any bad ones recently. I'm sufficiently afraid of severe weather to want a storm shelter of some sort in my house. But a tornado could just as easily strike when I'm no where near home, so I try not to worry. The local news does a pretty good job of tracking storm systems and sirens sound if there's a tornado warning.

I agree that October is much more pleasant than September for a visit. Be sure to check out the botanical garden while you're here.

Thanks! We are considering early October so it looks like the weather should be pleasant then.

The Botanical Gardens sound nice, is that in Huntsville?

Thanks for the tornado info too, a basement or storm shelter sounds like a good idea- we'll keep that in mind.

Thanks again!

Yes, the Botanical Gardens is in west Huntsville, off Bob Wallace.
