Hi folks, I reside in Indianapolis but I am not a HOOSIER. I moved to Indy nearly five years ago after living in the Baltimore metro area for over 12 years, and moved there in Jan of 90 just a few months after I got out of the Army. I am considering a move down south and am considering moving to Nashville or possibly Montgomery. I am a rather quiet, courteous down to earth fellow and I have kept my nose clean my entire life. I would like to know how the folks in Montgomery treat newcomers, especially YANKEES LIKE MYSELF? Oh, I forgot to mention that I was born and raised in Pennsylvania and I really have not had any extensive exposure to life in the deep South.
I hope that I did not put anyone to sleep out there by providing you with a mini auto biography of myself? Anyway, your comments are most welcome. One last thing, what would be a good way for me to meet a nice southern woman?

I hate Montgomery Alabama,City is not like any City or state I lived in. Please do not relocate here. On my way home I passed a school where 2kids were fighting I yelled out car window to teacher and she stated it was not her business, dam I did not know how awful til meeting public. I hide in home if not at work. Montgomery Alabama is #4on fraud income tax as well as nations top city for transmmited diseases. Please beware. Trying to get out right now. I should have research this City before we relocated.

Southern places that are welcome to "Yankees".....I'd say Nashville, Huntsville (big transplant population here), and maybe B'ham. But Montgomery wouldn't be on my list. And have you ever been to Montgomery???? If you're considering a move there, my guess is no...LOL!

Of course there's Atlanta, but that's a whole different ball game.

I live near Montgomery its not that bad as long as you are on the east side/part of downtown. My suggestion would be move to one of the suburbs. (Wetumpka, Prattville, Pike Road, etc) Then you can enjoy what Montgomery has to offer without paying the prices of living on the east side. Also being a yank is nothing really to most people specifically in Montgomery which is a pretty blue area.

Every place has its good and bad, while moving to any new place, one thing should be considered without any doubt is the apartment chosen by person is secure or not and if it is possible for one to catch basic amenities at walking distance.
