True. Even in north Alabama the summer's afternoon humidity averages in the low 90 percent. Winter is our rainy season. We are, even N AL, subtropical.

Actually I believe the humidity is usually higer in the AM than in the PM. The one thing I have noticed is that it gets hotter later in the day in N. AL than in S. AL

Hmm, dunno.

Vapor in the air increases during the afternoon, but yeah, the relative humidity would lower for the same amount of vapor due to the temperature rising.

boy this is an old thread...
Keeper is right. Once it starts getting warm around here - The dew at night is tremendous. Our decks regularly look like it has rained overnight. The grasses and fields slowly release moisture through evaporation, and grass can still be damp even at one in the afternoon. Once the moisture (which has been keeping temps down) is evaporated, then the heat kicks in. Around five at night (later after June) the sun starts to get far enough west that things cool down and working outside is comfortable. By an hour after sundown, the humidity is rising.

Shaded areas near water have a tendency to grow mold. I even had a nice crop of it on my van.
