Default What's the deal with Grant's head count?

On city-data the population of Grant is listed as about 800, on the Grant homepage the population is claimed to be 3,000. Does anybody know how or why there is such a difference?

Thanks.

Okay. The police must cover an area larger than just the city.
this page: <http://www.grantalabama.com/Emergency_Services.htm> claims 3,000.

Thanks.
