Purse theft in Boaz
On Sunday morning September 30 at around 8:30 A.M we were eating breakfast at McDonalds in Boaz. My mother had passed away earlier that morning and we were discussing our loss.
My daughter left her purse on a seat and a lady came along and stole my daughters purse. Witnesses said the woman appeared to be Korean or of Asian desent. She walked by the chair, said "purse" "purse", picked it up and walked out.
The woman, I hate to use the term "lady" got into a small white pickup, possibly Toyoto, along with 2 small white dogs and left the resturant.
I don't understand how some people have no conscious.
If anyone has any information on this crime please give me a call at 2569967387
Please don't let this thief get away with this.

Have you contacted the police department and/or sheriff's office? The odds that we can help you here are non-existent.
Sorry.

We did go to the police department and reported it. I thought I would post a report on a few forums in case someone recognised the vehicle or the woman involved.
Thanks.....

Sorry about your loss. (Your mom, not the purse)
I avoid McDonalds. Too many nutso things happen there.
Hmmm, I wonder if one dog was black and the other was white, if anyone would complain... Oh wait, that is a different thread.
Boaz has a lot of outsiders coming in for the discount stores. Chances are good the woman was a little demented and from outside the area. I would complain to the McDonald's manager and higher ups. They might have security cameras and if they don't, they should consider installing them.

McDonalds
We asked about security cameras when the incident happened.
They told us we had to talk to the night shift manager, who was the only one that could look at the video. We called back and talked to her. She said she would look at the video and call us back. That was Sunday night and we still haven't heard back from them.

Well if the video is available, then it should be a police detective who is viewing it....

You'll need to push on the video. Businesses don't usually show security video to anyone outside of the company, for liability reasons. In anything but a small town, I wouldn't suggest the following, but in Boaz you might stand a chance of not getting lost in the shuffle of improtant cases of drug deals and spousal abuse and major robberies: Ask the police to talk with the person handling the case, and then suggest that the two of you meet at McDonalds at his or her convenience to review the video together. Then, call and tell the McDonald's manager that the police want to see the security tape and will be over at the arranged time. Coffee should be supplied by the McD manager, but if it isn't offer to buy some for everyone yourself. Be prepared to be stonewalled by either the police or McDonalds.
The main thing you may accomplish is getting a good view of the person and description. If she is a regular, then you may be able to proceed further, but chances are that the main result will be improving the awareness of both the police and the fast food place, and providing background to convict if the woman pulls the same stunt again.

When we went to the Police Department we were told by the officer that they would have to have a court order to look at the video.

Police Department's are overrun with criminal cases and like any organization, they focus on the most serious ones and often ignore the small ones because they just don't have the manpower to investigate everything.
My best suggestion is for you to contact the Chief of Police and ask them if they will pursue the case.
