The Hyundai Sonata is built right here in Alabama, and they're quiet popular (although not as much as the Toyota Camry or Chevy Malibu).

It may come down to a few thousand votes in Ohio. I would personally hate to live in that state right now, because the robocalling must be insane.
That was a very informative and detailed response mate. Thanks for that.

I may have succumbed to silly stereotyping when asking about racial stuff. There's a minority of head-cases in every part of the World including my own Country.

I had to laugh when you said "anything the French drive"! Those Froggies don't get a good press down your way, do they?!!!

RE Ohio, my brother lives outside Columbus and is married to a local girl - a staunch Republican. His area is very Conservative. I guess that the Liberal / Democratic areas would be right in the three big Cities and the industrial belt that was decimated by the recession. Other than Indiana and one of the N.E States, the rest of the North looks pretty safe for the Dems. As far as the South goes, it looks like Florida, Nth Carolina and Virginia are up for grabs.

I presume Alabama is a certainty to go with Romney? Are there any Democrats in your State and if so I presume they'd be concentrated in the big Cities and maybe the amongst black community?

The Sonata's built in AL? Didn't know that man! They're a very good car. I knew the Camry was a popular vehicle over there. They don't sell it here any more. We've got the Avensis instead.

The Malibu looks like a good car. I see the Impala is used in some States as a Police cruiser. We used to have a mid-sized Chevy sedan up to a couple of years ago but its been discontinued. All you can get now is the compact Cruize.

I'd love to get behind the wheel of an American muscle car like a Mustang or a Charger some day. Or a V8 USA sports car like the Camaro, Viper or Corvette. Great cars.

Mercedes builds its SUVs in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
Honda has an engine plant in Huntsville.
Don't they also have a vehicle plant near Anniston?

Alabama is one of the most reliable Republican states in national elections. However, it's a little different here. Democrats and Republicans at the state level are much more similar to each other (on the whole) then they are on the national level. Old-school "Southern Democrats" are different from your typical Northern Democrats. The Democratic party (in the South) used to be the more conservative party, and many very conservative people here are still Democrats (though they would be hard-pressed to vote for a Democrat in a national election these days). The Democratic party had controlled the state government for over 100 years until the 2010 state elections when the Republicans won in a landslide. Many old "Southern Democrats" have switched to the Republican party because of how the national Democratic party has gone so far to the left on the political spectrum.

The vast majority (probably greater than 90%) of the blacks in Alabama are Democrats. But, since blacks account for only about 1/3 of the state's population, Romney is sure to win the state because the vast majority of whites will vote for Romney.

However, some of us see the plain fact that Romney and Obama are clones of each other when it comes to the really important things such as monetary policy, foreign policy, civil liberties, and the nature of government. They bicker on the party talking points, but in the end, they are both bought and paid for by the same people.

That is why a very few of us will either abstain from voting or vote third party.

It is Toyota that has the engine plant in Huntsville. Honda has the assembly plant in Lincoln.
