You know where the real LA is..
Lower AL.
You've eaten Poke Saladit at least once
Had roadkill for Thanksgiving dinner
All true

When you've ever been to drunk to fish...
From Foxworthy, but his 'you might be a redneck' jokes hit mighty close to home for me...
You know you are from Alabama when.... you can identify a helicopter just by the sound of the rotors. Wocka wocka!
This is especially true around Dothan and soon, Huntsville. Aviation programs are growing at Troy and UAH.

Funny story; people here in have been very friendly, especially in the Jewish community. I went out to dinner with two ladies, and one of them in turn e-mailed another couple who belonged to the synagogue, who invited our family out for lunch.
So I guess this gal (not an original Alabamian) had emailed them saying "A new Jewish family has moved here from LA".
So we meet them, and the first question the husband (a native Alabamian) asks is "so, whereabouts in Louisiana are y'all from?"
"Louisiana?" I said, perplexed.
We figured out how this mix-up occurred pretty quick.

Wallace State Community College in Hanceville (near Cullman) also offers an aviation program.
