There are some posters, while not trolls per se, are very racist and they don't live in the south.

Don't worry. We get the same racist remarks and stuff about the Klan here in the KY forum. In all fairness, I did read that one of the nation's largest Klan chapters is active in southern KY, but I have not known this group to cause harm to anyone.

As a former northerner who has made his permanent home in North Carolina for over 10 years now I can honestly say that I have heard very little about the KKK here, and I used to live in Johnston County where they are said to be powerful and active . The County High Sheriff has arrested and prosecuted most of the problem ones and they seem to be pretty much impotent here. I will admit that there is always talk of the Klan but I have yet to see anyone who is willing to flash a membership card
As is the case with the Klan or any other racists/racist groups.\, they should be banned from this forum as all they do is troll and start conflicts. Check out the political and other subjects forum and you will see this first hand. I was a regular poster in there but no more....fohgeddabowdit!!!
Since Joe Quick wished everyone a Merry Christmas let me add to that a Happy Hannukah and a Happy Kwanzaa and a Happy whatever else there is this holiday time of year. Peace.

Sorry, this is in regards to a previous post. What exactly does it mean to "troll" or be "trolling"?????

An Internet troll, or simply troll in Internet slang, is someone who intentionally posts controversial or contrary messages in an on-line community such as an on-line discussion forum or group with the singular intention of baiting users into an argumentative response.[1] It often has a broader meaning referring to any shady trouble making Internet activity.

I have to totally commend the mods because I never see the racist or KKK posts. I suppose they are deleted before I come across them.

You need to commend the posters here as I can't take the credit for deleting post about racism/KKK, mainly because there have been only a couple that I can recall in the many months I have been a mod.
If you read this forum frequently you will find the stereotype of AL being a racist state is just not true. Are there racist/KKK in AL, I am sure there are but they are the minority not the majority.
I have to remove many more post in some of the Northern states/cities I moderate.
IMHO.. Alabama is the best forum in all of CD land, because we have the best posters.

The only forum invaders I notice are what I consider... suspect forum invaders. Having lurked around on many other of the forums (California, and some of the other states we were considering moving to before we settled on Alabama.) I always wonder about those posts that are new poster, post #1 'Hi, I'm a bi-racial Catholic lesbian from Ireland who has a Muslim partner and 2 adopted children from China and Kenya respectively. Will I still be welcome in city X?" And then you see an almost identical post from ANOTHER new poster a couple weeks later on a different state's forum. It kinda makes you think, "What the heck? Is that kind of household really so common that someone posts an almost identical scenario?"
I sometimes think there are some people painting tall-tale identities in the interest of seeing if they can spark any reactions.

I agree as i have made the same observation, and yes, most appear to come from new posters. Maybe they keep signing in time after time using different e mail addresses to become "new" members again, I don't know. When I see what looks like a troll i will first try to ignore their comments and then I will either add that poster to my ignore list and/or contact a moderator. We all need to police the activities in here along with the moderators as it is all of us who will benefit or lose from what these "trolls" do.
Personally I have no use for negative posters or those who raise issues that are guaranteed to incite anger and frustration. I made the mistake about falling into their traps twice since I became a member and learned my lesson well. .
I live in NC but have a personal interest in AL so I visit here very often.
This is an excellent forum..well run and policed.....My two cents!
