Good folks and a very high quality product, although the eggs now are not nearly as good as they are first thing in the spring, but that's normal. Eggs are available any time by driving up to the farm and leaving money in the fridge; you can call Charlie at the farm for more info.
Hi Nicole....Thanks so much for the info...am gonna call them tomorrow. Hopefully I'll be able to get there then!

Very funny! I've been a Southern gal most of my life and have never, thank goodness, picked cotten. My husband has and he said that is some of the most backbreaking, hand slicing, awful work one can do.

I hope you find much to love in the South.

Well, they weren't *working the fields* or anything. Jeannemara. They just picked a few pieces. Of course what you say is true. One of the things that was neat for my kids (and me) was to touch and feel it and see it. Picking a few pieces is not unpleasant, but it's enough to see how picking it all day (and getting all the little seeds out) would be miserable, how it was miserable for slaves, and exactly why the cotton gin was such an important invention in its time. Slaves used to pick those seeds out by hand until their fingers bled.

I think anyone who has the opportunity could benefit from picking a few pieces, handling them, picking out the seeds, and seeing what it's like.
