o.b. swain is on a distinguished road
Default Black Cemetery in Marion Alabama

I hope someone can provide me with some information. I am attempting to locate the cemetery in which my grandfather, Willie Swain, is buried. My grandfather died around 1935. He was married to Carrie Swain. His children were: Curlie Swain, Anna Bell Swain, O.B. Swain (my father), Willie/Nick Swain, Fanny Swain, Carrie (Swain) Essix, "Son" Swain and "Baby Swain.
My grandmother (Carrie Swain) was buried in Birmingham, Alabama around 1964.
My father took me to the cemetery when I was a boy- around 50 years ago. I remember that the cemetery was not in the best of conditions back then. I know that the Essix family was related to many of the Swain's. One of my father's closest friends was Jack Essix.
I would like to visit the cemetery and say some prayers over my grandfather and my uncle ("Son") graves. If anyone has any information my email address is offierashed@yahoo.com.
Thank you.

Mr.Swain:

Perhaps you could contact the county courthouse there and ask for help. They should have death/burial records...this is the best suggestion I can come up with.....

As a start, you might try here:

Marion County, Alabama Cemetery Records

Maybe one of the cemetary names or the map will jog your memory of where to look.
