Relocating to Alabama
My wife and I are looking at starting over and getting out of Colorado. I'm a truck driver of 11 yrs. and my wife is finishing school for her paralegal degree and has other experience in admin.,wharehouse., etc. She wants to go to one of the larger law schools but we're tired of big city life. Just looking for suggestions !

You would not have a problem with getting a job as a truck driver in Alabama. Are you an o/o or company driver? Lots of freight in the Tn, Al, Ga, NC area. Plenty of good schools in the area, not sure about law though.
We just moved to the Huntsville area to get away from the crowded city life and like it alot so far. Very friendly people.

FWIW - Alabama has three law schools...
1) Unversity of Alabama School of Law in Tuscaloosa. Tuscaloosa area population approximately 200,000.
2) Cumberland School of Law at Samford University - Birmingham.
3) Birmingham School of Law (Night school) - Birmingham.
I would highly recommend the Birmingham School of Law to your wife. It is almost 100 years old and is specifically designed for those who need to work while going to law school. She could get a job with a local law firm in Birmingham and go to school at night...because the faculty consists 100% of actively practicing attorneys, it does a very good job of preparing the graduate for the bar exam and practice....
Birmingham School of Law - My BSL Story
Lots of trucking jobs in Birmingham too....the unemployment rate is so low, I would think you might have your choice of jobs....

I've been a local company driver for most of my career, have done some regional, and have recently been looking into buying my own truck. But I'm still researching that.

There are a lot of jobs like that here in Birmingham if you want to work for a local company. I knew a man who worked for a local firm who had a contract with Mercedes Benz....he had a daily route from downtown Birmingham to Vance - about 35 miles away...

Alabama is a great state to live in
Lots of trucking and freight in North Alabama and Tennessee.
All of the law schools mentioned are reputable. One caviat. Birmingham school of law, if it is a night school, may not be a nationally accreddited by law school.
I live in Nashville, Tn and know that Nashville School of Law is a very reputable school locally. However, because it is a night school... the national law school accreditation bodies have refused to grant it national accreditation. What this means is you can sit for the BAR exam and become a state of Tennessee licensed lawyer but you would not be granted reciprocity in other states. I assume the same is true for Birmingham school of law.
Alabama school of Law and the Cumberland school of law at Samford are bothe very reputable and fully accredited law schools but you would probably have to attend full time and during the day.

In legal recruiting I found that candidates from Birmingham Shool of Law were not very much in demand by larger firms in town.

This is true...the larger firms are populated by graduates of Cumberland, Alabama and other 'traditional' law schools that have full time faculty.
I mentioned the BSL, bc it is a nice option for her if she must continue to work and wants to go to law school at night....
