Moontown isn't named for anything to do with Huntsville's role in the space program. It was named by some dude named Moon sometime back in the 1800s. This information is in a Huntsville Public Library

Why is it named that? : stories behind the names of 250 places in Madison County and Huntsville, Alabama

I would like to know the origins of a Madison County community called Lick Skillet. I love that Butter and Egg Road is in the same area!
