Default Whats near Talladega?

We are looking to take a job in Talladega and wanted to know the best places to live near there. Our priorities are good public schools, safe neighborhoods and affordable rents. My husband doesn't mind commuting to work but we would like an area that offers kids plenty of things to do. Also, I know this is a long shot that anybody would know but our kids (ages 10 and 11) are involved in competitive gymnastics and we would like for them to continue. Do You know of any good gyms. Thanks in advance.

The public schools in Talladega are not good. I have lived here my entire life and my wife and I send our 2 children to a private school in Anniston. The county schools in Lincoln are pretty good but I would avoid the Talladega city schools like the plague.
If you don't mind a little commute, you should look at Oxford. It's in Calhoun county, about 20-25 miles Northeast of Talladega. Much more to do there, schools are better and there's a better chance you'll find a gym there. There are no gyms in Talladega or Lincoln that I know of.

I would strongly recommend Pell City as a place to live and for the schools. St.Clair County is very progressive and is known for having a very effective County Commission. The county is growing at a healthy clip and revenues are increasing. Pell City has a progressive Mayor and good schools.

Talladega County (while very beautiful) is not known for having good government and has had quite a few problems over the years with generating growth and economic development, which are the engines of good quality life. I would live in St.Clair County in the Pell City area and commute to the job...

I would pick this over Oxford any day....
