The video link is pretty funny and filmed in Birmingham's 5 points south

I`m not shocked. Even if someone is against it they wont start throwing rocks and trying to organize a town burning. There are more Violence toward gays in other so call progressive states then it has been in Alabama.

I liked the fact that Jon Stewart didn't really have much to say about it at the end. Any time we manage to undercut stereotypes is a win in my book.

We should note that it was filmed in likely the most gay-friendly corner of the state. Nevertheless, I'm sure this shocks many people.

Yeah sure, we know it could have turned out differently in other parts of the state but I think most people outside of the South think it couldn't happen the way it did anywhere or at anytime.

Here's another primo example. CNN did a news report a few years back about what would happen in a hijab-wearing Muslim walked into a backwoods BBQ place in Arab, Alabama. And the condescending nitwits were dumbfounded when....nothing happened. The people were treated with respect and friendliness.

I guess these people are so steeped in their own moral vanity that they cannot comprehend people who might hold a different point of view still treating others with respect.

Tourian, that was my point. I think its fun to point out that places are just generally complex. Its not fair to paint the South as wholly bigoted, but I wouldn't want to make the opposite claim that everyone is supportive of gay people or even that as a whole its as gay-supportive as New York or California.
I thought the stunned Jon Stewart was funny.

Is the main guy in that video famous or has he been on TV quite a bit? I feel like I have seen or met him before.

He is one of CNN's alleged experts on all things Arab. By that, I mean the people, not the city.
