been to Dekalb County 2 weeks ago to check the place out and look at houses------satisfied.
The sale of my Minnesota farm was supposed to close on Sept 1 and I would have been in Alabama shortly after. (we are held up because the "contingency" clause says the buyer must sell his new house first-------the buyer is a family member
Yesterday morning our temp was -3 with a -16 windchill.
Hope his house sells soon-----( realistically, it could be a long time with the housing market slump)

Yikes.. that is a little nippy.. It was in the upper 30s here but colder in Ft Payne, high 20s. Today is suppose to in the mid 60s.
Where in DeKalb did you decide to move?

checked out houses in North Ft Payne, checked out a couple new ones a few miles South on 11---------checked out a couple in Fyffe and a couple in Rainsville and one out in the country by Henagar.
To clarify--------these were just "drive by" as I got addresses off the internet. I did not want to actually contact a realtor til my sale is closed on and I have the money.
--The "drive by" was just to "get the feel" of the area and to decide if we wanted to live there. ---------we felt good about 90% of the houses we did a "drive by"
Oer distance from my farm to Fort Payne was 1160 miles. We also took advantage of the spectacular scenery and spent tome at Desota State Park. Little River Canyon (got a good woorkout by talking the hiking trail to the bottom)

I have been to Ft Payne but only to pick up a dog from the SPCA. I would like to go to see the waterfall and the park.
Glad you liked the area. Driving by gives you at least a feel of the area.
