Default Fuel question....

Fuel question ...
My name is Bart, i'm from Belgium. Because of my trip i planned next year(april) to the United States(to Talladega, NASCAR), i have a question. I'm gonna drive a rental car overthere, how much is the gas priced in Alabama? And, is it possible to drive a car with a diesel engine? I mean are there enough 'diesel stations' to get diesel... Thanx.B.

Rental cars usually are not diesel, but diesel availability is not a problem. Gas is about $3 per gallon (expect 20 miles per gallon mileage).

On my trip to Alabama (2960) miles---------we averaged 33 mpg.
The lowest mpg of the trip was the driving the back mountain roads around Fort Payne----------31 mpg ------------------------2007 Toyota Camry

Replied to another post but in case you did not see.

1. Gas in the US is cheaper than diesel but only by a few cents.
2. Rental Cars are usually automatic gas models. Hard to find a straight shift or a diesel
3. Diesel is plentiful and easy to find
4. Expect to pay around 2 Euros per gallon. One gallon is slightly less than 4 liters
5. Probably a lot easier to find a fuel efficient gas rental model than worry about diesel.

You will be welcomed in the US but expect to speak English. The average American will not be able to speak any European language fluently.
